Michael “Mike” Blaise Salario, age 60, passed away on August 3, 2024. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, to Blaise Joseph Salario and Gwendolyn LaCour Salario. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He graduated from Baton Rouge Magnet High School in 1981 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986 from Louisiana State University. Mike worked as an engineer for almost 40 years. He began his career at Star Enterprise/Motiva and ended his career as a Mechanical Equipment Team Manager at Shell Chemical, where he spent most of his years. He was a hardworking and kindhearted employee, supervisor, and mentor. He was a dedicated man to his family and career. He was willing to help anyone in need and was loved by all. His passion included everything to do with motorcycles and cars. All who knew him loved his wonderful sense of humor, as he enjoyed making others laugh whenever he had a chance. Mike was a loving husband for over 32 years and amazing father to his two daughters.
Mike will be watching over his wife, Mary Russo Salario; daughters, Ashley Elizabeth and Amanda Marie; siblings, Richard Louis Salario (Kelly) and Susan Salario Pellegrin (Glynn); father, Blaise Joseph Salario; mother, Gwendolyn LaCour Salario; mother-in-law, Beatrice Charchio Russo; brother-in-law, John Anthony Russo, Jr. (Betty); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In the glory of Heaven, he joins his father-in-law, John Anthony Russo; sister-in-law, Frances Ann Russo; grandfather, Louis L Salario; grandmother, Josephine Piazza Salario; grandfather, Lemmie LaCour; grandmother, Maybelle LaCour; and beloved pet (Hampton).
Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. celebrated by Father Trey Nelson. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Michael’s memory. The family would like to thank everyone for all their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. A special thank you to all the nurses and providers at Baton Rouge General Hospital for taking care of Michael. He will be greatly missed.
