Michael Garcia

Michael Anthony Garcia, age 68, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on September 17, 2017.

Michael was a graduate of Redemporist High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He retired from the Department of Health and Hospitals. Sports were always an important part of his life. This was evident from his youth as an athlete to the years he spent coaching youth sports.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Freneaux Garcia; his daughter, Kristi (Garcia) Spinosa and husband John; his two sons, Todd Garcia and wife Angela, and Thomas Garcia and wife Jessica; his grandchildren, William, Haley, Grayson, Kathryn, Michael, Abigail, Gracie, and Olivia; one great-grandson, Liam; his brothers, Steve, Garry, and Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Paulette Garcia; his brother, Bobby Garcia; and his nephew, Chad Garcia.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S Harrells Ferry Rd., from 11:00am until Mass at 11:30am. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be Steve Garcia, Garry Garcia, Kevin Garcia, Patrick Garcia, Brett Garcia, and Eric Delatorre, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Dodson V, Grayson Spinosa, Michael Garcia, Liam Dodson, Dennis Delatorre, Joey Delatorre and Brandon Garcia.
