Michael Dupuy

January 3, 1947 — November 14, 2016

After living 69 years of a very complete life in every way, Michael James Dupuy departed from his earthly life and entered Heavens gates on Monday, November 14, 2016. He left peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA.

Mike was beloved by many and he fulfilled every single role given to him by family, friends and coworkers. But the roles he lovingly embraced above all others were that of devoted husband and father. His passion and priority in life were his devoted wife of more than 46 years, Margaret "Maggie" V. Dupuy and his two loving daughters, Kimberly and Kellie. They shared countless precious times together and went through everything in life that was thrown their way as a family. We are beyond grateful to have had the most loving, devoted, generous, strong and wonderful man in our lives. His unconditional love shined through until the bitter end when he spoke his last words, "you three are my reason." He left this life with nothing left unsaid or undone.

After graduating from Istrouma High School in 1966, he joined the U.S. Navy and served our country in the Vietnam War as a gunners mate aboard the USS Porterfield. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After his honorable discharge he went on to work at ExxonMobil Refinery for the next 42 years. Known only to his coworkers as "Sally" (because of his long hair in the late 60's), Mike made many friends and was successful in all that he did. He worked tirelessly for many years to provide the very best for his family. He also provided for his grandchildren in numerous ways, and he spoiled them rotten! After retiring from Exxon in 2011, he spent every day just enjoying life with his wife and little dog Zoe. He loved bass and brim fishing, boiling crawfish for everyone and listening to the Blues. Mike accomplished every goal he set for himself and was truly the cornerstone of our family. He will be missed dearly by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Margaret V. Dupuy and his two daughters, Kimberly Dupuy Santangelo, husband Ronald N. Santangelo, and Kellie R. Bordelon. He also leaves behind his 3 beloved grandchildren, Emily Che' Garafola, Landon Brett Garafola and Haley Grace Garafola. There are no words to describe how much he loved those 3 kids. He will also be missed by numerous family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister Linda "Gayle" Fuchs. They will forever hold hands, and dance to some good Ole rock and roll until the day we meet them again.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 12 noon until services at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow in the Mausoleum chapel at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers to be announced.
