Michael Eugene Brown, Mike Brown, passed away from cancer on February 2, 2015 at age 67.
Mike, the eldest son of Eugene Ernest Brown and Nellie Kent, resided in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mike married Janet Tullos on June 7, 1969 in Baton Rouge. Mike graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana before relocating with his wife, Janet to Auburndale, Florida, where he became an elementary school teacher. After moving back to Louisiana, Mike continued to teach at Woodlawn High School and eventually returned to Louisiana State University completing both a Masters and PhD in Education. Mike and Janet continued to reside in Baton Rouge until his passing. Mike was an active and curious friend, father, teacher, and community member. He was an avid Ham radio operator, broadcasting as KB5TD. Mike was a water safety instructor who taught innumerable children to swim safely and he spent many years scuba diving on the Gulf Coast. Mike remained active through learning and practicing karate and sword fighting. He mastered a high level of skill in sword fighting through his involvement with the Society for Creative Anachronism.
