Melrose Willie

Melrose D. Willie, age 88, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, the date of her 70th wedding anniversary. Melrose loved family, gardening and music. She was also a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

Melrose is survived by her son, Al Willie, Jr. (Lynn); daughters, Sharon Blum, Edna Billings (Butch), and Laura James (Orrin); grandchildren, Jennifer Birk, Doug Cain, Ray Vince, Trey Willie, Amanda Whisenhunt, Kyle Cain, Brandi Hull, and Ryan Blum; and 17 beloved great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alfred Willie; her parents, John & Margaret Denny; five brothers; and one sister.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 1:00 PM until the time of services.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home at 3:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Dr. Rick Pitcher.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity.
