Melba B. Tullier, 90, died from complications of Parkinson's disease on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at The Carpenter House. A life-long resident of Baton Rouge, she retired from Ethyl Corporation after more than 30 years of service as an Administrative Assistant. She was active and independent throughout her life. She received her private pilot's license in 1972, and was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, and cook. She loved traveling, shopping for antique bargains, playing piano, her pet dogs, and Jonny Cash music.
She is survived by her two children, Gerald E. Tullier and Susan E. Auclair, five grandchildren, Damien Tullier, Traci Dowdle, Staci Reis, Marcel Tullier, and Jeanne Takyi, and ten great grandchildren, Tyler Tullier, Justin Dowdle, Maggie Tullier, Laci Dowdle, Julien Tullier, Yve Tullier, Luc Tullier, Philip Takyi, Addison Warren, and Vivienne Takyi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Tullier, and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Alice Broussard, and sisters and brothers-in-law Imogene and Henry Jenkins, Dorothy Aucoin, and Helena and Richard Baker.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Thanks to the staff of St. James Place who provided superb care throughout her lengthy disability, to the staff of The Carpenter House who were attentive and comforting in the final days of her life, and to Holly Rando who became "Just Melba's" best friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic High School or St. James Place Nursing Care Center are appreciated.
