Melba Genice Smith, age 83, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on May 12, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda K. Robicheaux and husband Glenn Robicheaux; her sister, Mildred Loving; her brother, Clyde Allen; her grandchildren, Sarah E. Spiller, Lauren G. Diedrich, Ryan Odell Diedrich; and her great-grandchildren, Jax Wallace Spiller and Christian Scott Spiller.
Melba is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Odell Smith; her parents, Clyde and Hattie Allen; her sisters, Helen Parault, Eleanor Parault, and Lurynne Geata; and her brothers, William Allen, Eugene Allen, JW Allen, Buford Allen, Alfred Allen, and Billy Joe Allen.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 12:00 pm until funeral services at 2:00 pm. Officiated by Brother Joel Davis. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

The family of Melba would like to thank the members of Family of Faith church, the nurses and staff at Clarity Hospice, the caregivers at Home Instead and Feliciana Home Health, and the doctors on the Telemetry unit at Ochsner Hospital, Dr. Kiran Padigala, Dr. Chad Barden, and Dr. John Creed. We would also like to thank the family and friends for the much-needed prayers and support during mom's illness. She was richly blessed with wonderful family and friends. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
