Melba Ann Verret Chapman, 77, passed away on July 18, 2013 after an extended illness. Native of Lafayette and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Melba was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with family and friends. She loved flowers and often enjoyed gardening with her husband, Jim. Melba is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Jim Chapman, Jr. three daughters, Danielle Gremillion of Baton Rouge, LA, Michelle and husband Keith Dwyer of Tampa, FL, and Gabrielle Moore of Denham Springs, LA son, Jamie Chapman and his fianc Paige Cavalcante of St. Francisville, LA four grandchildren, Faith Gremillion, Chase Croy, Blaine Chapman, and Rebecca Rhiannon Moore one brother, Frank Verret and his wife Cecile and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Gabriel and Edith Verret and brother, Russell Sonnier. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA, from 10 am until funeral service at 2 pm officiated by Reverend Terry Ellis of Broadmoor Baptist Church.
