Our Father brought Maxine to be with Him and our Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday February 8, 2017. She was born May 27, 1925 in Magnolia, Mississippi. She was a long time resident of Baton Rouge. She was a member of First Baptist Central. She retired from the Louisiana School for the Deaf.
She is survived by her son Neal Smith and wife Diane of Livingston; grandson, Troy Bozeman and wife Toni Lynn of Denham Springs; grandson, Travis Bozeman and wife Kathe of Walker; son in law, Gerald Bozeman of Baton Rouge; 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Blake, Kinslee, Presley and William.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard N. Smith; daughter, Wanda Smith Bozeman; Brothers, Keith Newman and Edwin Newman. Just a few of her many friends are Dolores Manning, Lucille Johnson, Bertie Avants, Larry and Carol Smith, Gerald and Sandra Smith, James and Phyllis Smith, Robert and Sue Ladner, Liz Martin, and Tammy Briscoe.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at both La Plantation and Harvest Manor in Denham Springs for the great care they gave Maxine. She will be missed, but we know that through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we will see her again. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Ray Johnson at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Danny Cotton, Billy Sharpe, Randy Lorio, Eddie Newman, Travis Bozeman and Troy Bozeman. Visitation will be Sunday February 12 from 5pm-8pm and will resume on Monday February 13 from 9am until religious services at 10am. Christian burial will follow.
