Maxie Granny Arrant Rushing, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at The Haven at Windermere. A native of Shreveport, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Maxie received a Masters Degree in education and proudly worked as an elementary school teacher and school librarian in the Caddo Parish School System for 25 years. Her main hobbies consisted of gardening, making ceramics, sewing and her church. Maxie was a devoted member of Parkview Baptist Church, the National Honor Society and also a Pink Lady member at Our Lady of the Lake. Maxie was a loving and gracious Granny to all her grandchildren and to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Julia Julie C. Wilson and husband John, and Kay C. Boyd and husband Bill six grandchildren, Trent Boyd and wife Vickie, Tracie B. Comeaux and husband John, Terri L. Nevils and husband Todd, Tricia Hiros and husband Adnan, Shannon Smith and husband Jake, and Joey Ory seven greatgrandchildren, Katelyn Comeaux, John David Comeaux, Taylor Nevils, Daniel Nevils, Adi Hiros, Aksel Hiros and Bronson Smith nephew, Marc Arrant the Ben Rushing Family and her many friends including her Parkview Baptist Church family. Preceded in death by her first husband, Harold M. Cooper second husband, Ben Rushing and son, Harold M. Cooper, Jr. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Parkview Baptist Church, 11795 Jefferson Hwy., from 9 am until funeral service at 10 am conducted by Rev. Merlin Liverman. A graveside service will be held later that day at 3 pm in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. Special thanks to The Haven at Windermere and to the Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice.
