Mary Lauer Wright passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born August 16, 1931, in Booneville, Missouri to Earle and Leticia Lauer.
Mary was a woman of many talents; she will be remembered as a wonderful mother and a patron of the arts as well as an artist herself. She enjoyed jazz music, plays and dramatic performances and was a member of the Louisiana Arts and Artist Guild, the Arts and Humanities Council of Baton Rouge, Associated Women in the Arts, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Mu Sigma Rho Liberal Arts Honor Society, and the Tau Sigma Delta Design Honor Society.
She also was a Louisiana Senate Docket clerk and was a transcriber for the 1973 Louisiana Constitutional Convention and a member of the Volunteers of America, where she served as Committee Chair, Recording Secretary, and Patroness.
Mary was a longtime member of Oakcrest Baptist Church. She loved to travel and experience other cultures; she enjoyed time in Italy, Greece, South America, Mexico, Fiji and the Caribbean.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Randall E. “Bud” Wright; her children, Carey Wright, Clay Wright, and Kelly Wright; and her sister, Jean Milliken.
She is survived by her son, Randall E. “Randy” Wright, II and his wife, Marcia Dixon Wright and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lauren Allen, Florence Day, Debra Rucker, Nicole Leflore, the Staff and Residents at Belmont Village in Memphis, Tennessee.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge on Saturday, May 18, 2024, beginning at 10am until the Funeral Service begins at 11 am, officiated by Tom Milliken. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, Volunteers of America, or the Food Bank of Greater Baton Rouge.
