Mary Valentine

October 11, 1957 — January 26, 2014

Mary Jo Cookie Wilkinson Valentine passed away on January 26, 2014 at the age of 56 and entered into eternal rest in the arms of Jesus her Savior. Cookie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Steve Valentine, and her three children, daughter Lauren Brooke, son James Ross, son Stephen Ryan and wife Holly Valentine and granddaughters Allison Miceli Ansley Valentine. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Eva Joe Temple, motherinlaw Rita Valentine, sister Charlene McCoy and husband Michael, brother Ricky Wilkinson, brother Charles Wilkinson Jr. wife Kathy, sisterinlaw Susan Ricaud and husband John Buddy, sisterinlaw Nancy Tate and husband Don, along with many nieces and nephews. Cookie was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She graduated from Tara High School in 1976. She attended college at Southeastern Louisiana University where she was a cheerleader and member of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity. She worked as a teacher and cheerleading coach at Victory Academy for 25 years. Cookies passion for life was tangible. She adored her family, her dogs, her friends, her church, her work. She loved her cheerleaders and often spoke of coaching as her mission. She was steadfast in her faith and never missed an opportunity to speak of her many blessings and Gods grace.She had the best spirit and was always giving and encouraging others, leaving lasting imprints on every life she touched. Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Victory Harvest Church 3953 N. Flannery Rd. A second visitation will be held at10:30 am on Friday January 31, 2014, followed by a Christian service at 12:00 pm also at Victory Harvest Church. Cookie will then be laid to rest at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge.
