Mary (Nan) Alice Huddleston Sutton
A native of Texarkana, TX and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the age of 85. She grew up in Shreveport and was a graduate of Byrd High School. She retired after a 40 plus year career with Wright and Percy Insurance Agency, where she still has many wonderful friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, particularly her7 grand-children and 4 great grand-children. She was a loving and selfless matriarch of our family, known for showing up on your doorstep with one of her delicious meals and a big smile. She enjoyed cooking, painting and reading. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Irvin Sutton, Sr.; mother Alma (Nana) Huddleston and father Walter Huddleston; brother Danny Huddleston, sister Dorothy Davis, brother in law Bill Ruby, Aunts' Bonnie Vana and Hazel Bittner. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Murphy and husband Don and Chrissie Sutton Fjeldsjo and husband Leif Fjeldsjo; one son, Charles (Chuck) Sutton, Jr. and wife Geri (lovingly referred to as daughter # 3).; seven grandchildren, Ashley (and husband Derek), Collin (and wife Kendall), Christopher, Aimee, Taylor, Riley and Rowan and Hayley and Ashley Murphy; 4 great grand-children Grayson, Ella Katherine, Emilia and Charlie; beloved sister and best friend Martha Ruby; niece Lisa Ruby; nephew Steve Ruby; cousin Nancy Young. Our appreciation to her friends Marguerite Francis, Mary Rish and Betty Hebert who provided so much love and support throughout the years. She was a 15 year cancer survivor, thanks to the loving, compassionate and expert care of Dr. Gerald Miletello and his amazing staff, who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on June 11, 2018 from 9am - 10am until funeral services at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
