Ann was born on August 14, 1935 and had lived in Baton Rouge since the age of two. Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and being active in her community. A lifelong lover of learning, she volunteered in various capacities at Magnolia Woods Elementary including tutoring children through the Volunteers in Public Schools Reading Friends program. As a board member of GFWC Lagniappe Woman's Club, Ann's tireless work on their annual signature event helped to raise monies for local charities and provide scholarships to deserving students. She cheerfully assisted patients receiving cancer treatment as a volunteer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Ann was an honors graduate of Baton Rouge High School class of 1953, and retired from LSU, where she worked in various capacities throughout her career.

Ann is survived by her beloved sons, Glenn Smith of Baton Rouge, and Dean Smith of Niceville, Florida; grandchildren, Sarah Margaret Smith and Grant Smith, of Baton Rouge, Glenn Smith, Jr., of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Austin Smith, of Niceville, Florida; and sister, Libby Bower of Las Vegas, Nevada.
