Mary Ann Sanchez Parker passed away at 9:22 P.M. on February 27, 2024, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at the age of 85. She was a native of Sunshine, Louisiana and a resident of Watson, Louisiana before moving to Florida. Mary Ann was a retired school worker and an active member of her church. As such, she volunteered with many organizations including Friends of St. Joseph, Catholic Daughters, Young at Heart, Adoration Chapel, Prayer Line, Catechism Classes, and the church office. After moving to Florida, she became involved with the Rosary Makers Group. For several years, she donated rosaries to St. Joseph Alter and to many in need.
Mary Ann is survived her two daughters; Sabrina and Ken Scritchfield of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Latina Douglas of Hammond, Louisiana; her three grandchildren; Joshua and Liz Scritchfield of Gilberts, Illinois, Shannon and Zane Gaudern of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Amber and CJ Ellsworth of Cummings, Georgia; her two step-grandsons; Kawliga Douglas and Kyle Douglas of Hammond, Louisiana; and her nine great-grandchildren; Sara, Paul, Logan, Cooper, Landon, Aria, Ella, Carleton, and Paisley Elizabeth. Other surviving family includes her sister, Frances Piper of Plaquemine, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Rita Sanchez of Geismar, Louisiana; and two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Parker of Tyler, Texas and Joe Easley of Central, Louisiana.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walter C. Parker; her son, C. Wayne Parker; granddaughter, Elizabeth Mumphrey; parents, Ernest and Elma Sanchez, four sisters, seven brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers are Joshua Scritchfield, Landon Scritchfield, Zane Gaudern, Cooper Gaudern, CJ Ellsworth, Carleton Ellsworth, Kevin Sanchez, and Murphy Loupe.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln, Denham Springs, Louisiana on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 A. M. Visitation will begin at 8:30 A.M. and continue until a Rosary is said at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
