It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Joyce Leger, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joyce passed away peacefully in her home on April 4, 2025, at the age of 77.
Joyce was born and lived her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She had a full career as a licensed beautician and, later in life, spent her time working alongside her husband at their barbershop, Headquarters. Their shared passion for serving the community extended beyond the shop—Joyce was also deeply involved in the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair for over fifty years. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament for over forty years.
Joyce cherished time spent with her family. She found joy in dancing with her husband, traveling with friends, road trips in the motorhome, watching Hallmark movies, tailgating for LSU games, and cooking – especially Monday night dinners with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, RL; her children, Lance and his wife Sophie, and Michele; her grandchildren, Morgan and her husband Dwayne, Landon, Logan, Brennan, Kelcie, and Caden; her great-grandchildren, Rose, Frank, and Alec; her sisters Emily and Carol (Ducky) and her brother Roger.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Wilford; her sister, Ethel; and her brothers, Wilford and Harold.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge.
