Mary Kelley

May 27, 1923 — October 29, 2011

A mothers love is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking. Mary McNabb Kelley, 88, a native of St. Helena Parish and resident of Lake Sherwood Village of Baton Rouge went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011. Mary was a longtime member of Istrouma Baptist Church. She was a licensed Beautician with a keen sense of style and flair. Mary spent much of her life raising and caring for her family, teaching them the importance of prayer and unconditional love. Coming from a large, closeknit family, she deeply enjoyed every chance to get together, especially the McNabb Family Reunions. She is survived by three children and their spouses son, Ashby Earl Kelley Jr. and Ann C. Kelley daughter, Sandra K Byrd and Wade Byrd son, David Brent Kelley and Eva B. Kelley, all of Greenwell Springs, La. Eight grandchildren Kevin D. Kelley, P.E. and Paige Connors Kelley of Houston Texas, Brad W. Kelley and Fiance Crystal Ross of Watson, Chris Shane Byrd of Greenwell Springs, Ashley Lowe J.D. and Michael Lowe of Baton Rouge, Sayward Byrd Stuart J.D. and Clint Stuart J.D. of Dallas, Texas, Jake Kelley and Brittany Pratt of Watson, Rhett Kelley of Greenwell Springs, and Chelsea Kelley of Baton Rouge. Four great grandchildren Connor Ashby Kelley of Houston, Texas, Katie and Abigail Lowe of Baton Rouge, and Annabel Stuart of Dallas, Texas. She is survived by one sister, Catherine Yarbrough, of Kentwood, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ashby Earl Kelley, parents George and Ethel McNabb, brothers Claude McNabb, Frank McNabb and Fred McNabb sisters, Emma Gardner, Sally Nettles, Mamie Allen, Monte Edwards, Alma Ashford, Joyce Travis, Alline McNabb and Allie McNabb, and greatgrandson Eamon M. Lowe. Pallbearers will be Kevin Kelley, Brad Kelley, Jake Kelley, Rhett Kelley, Wade Byrd and Michael Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Byrd, Clint Stuart and Connor Kelley. Visitation at Resthaven, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation for Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. with Religious Service Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Dr. Ferris Jordan and Rev. Ron Lambe of Istrouma Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family wishes to extend thanks to Dr. Leo Blaize, Personnel Home Care Services, Hospice of Baton Rouge, Pinnacle Home Health and her many friends at Lake Sherwood Village who made her feel special. The family appreciates the support and prayers given by members and staff at Istrouma Baptist Church, Zoar Baptist Church, family and friends.
