A retired employee of Travelers Insurance and a resident of Prairieville, she died at 8:38 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was 88 and a native of West Point, Va. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 2 p.m. until chapel service at 3 p.m. Entombment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, S.C. She is survived by two sons and a daughterinlaw, Paul H. and Lynn Griggs, and Ken Griggs and a very good friend, Carol Earheart. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Red Johns. She was a member of the Eastern Star. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Special thanks to the staff at The Carpenter House, especially Keith Horcasitas, Trig Olson and Chaplain Chris Roussell for the care given to Mrs. Johns at this difficult time.
