Mary Maude Babin Frugé

February 12, 1931 — March 31, 2024

Mary Maude Babin Fruge’, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Easter morning, Sunday, March 31, 2024 at 3:45am. She was the most amazing Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and Friend to all. A devout Catholic, she was a charter member of St. Thomas More Parish, Church, and School. She served on countless committees at St. Thomas More throughout her life. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at church, as well as many years at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She spent her entire life helping others. As a teenager, she was offered a full scholarship to LSU, but times were tough so she turned it down to help her mom take care of her siblings. Nobody loved and cared with more passion. It didn’t matter who you were, if you needed anything, she was there to help you, never wanting recognition or thanks. That was always her way. She lived her life as a child of God and was an inspiration to so many. She loved life in all ways from her cheerleading days at Istrouma High School to riding in the New Orleans Iris Parade to volunteering for whatever was needed. But the greatest happiness she ever found was in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She devoted her life to raising her children and any others who came along the way who may have needed her. Everyone who knew her, knew they had a friend. To know her was truly to love her. She married the love of her life in 1954 and had the most wonderful and inspirational marriage of 62 years until God called him home in 2016. She is joyfully reuniting with him today and will finally get to hear him once again serenade her with the song he wrote for her so many years ago. We will miss her every day, but we know she is rejoicing with the angels. She is survived by daughter Debbie Fruge’ Meade; daughter Teri Fruge’ Huff and husband Pete; son, C. Farrell Fruge’, Jr., and wife Karen; son, Scott Fruge’, and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Derek Dunbar, Kyle Huff, Kelli Huff Morgan, Scott Meade, Trey Fruge’, Kasey Huff, Erica Fruge’ Devillier, Camille Fruge’, Alex Fruge’, Harrison Fruge’, and Myles Doherty; great grandchildren Sophie, Abby, Harvey, Zoe, and Julia; and a sister, Emily Babin Stein.  Preceded in death by her husband, C. Farrell “Benny” Fruge’; her parents, Fabian Babin, Sr. and Harriet Babin; her sister, Joyce Babin Ragusa; brothers Louis Babin, Fabian Babin, Jr., and Morris Babin. Pallbearers will be Derek Dunbar, Kyle Huff, Scott Meade, Trey Fruge’. Kasey Huff, Alex Fruge’, Harrison Fruge’, and Myles Doherty. Gift bearers will be Kelli Huff Morgan, Erica Fruge’ Devillier, and Camille Fruge’. The children wish to extend their sincere thanks to Sylvia Wilson and Cathy Macmurdo for their care and devotion. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., on Monday April 8, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m conducted by Fr. Jerry Martin.
