Born July 20, 1936 in Mobile, AL. Grew up in Shreveport, LA. Graduate of Byrd High School, class of 1954. Attended LSU graduating with BS degree in speech therapy in 1959. She met her husband to be at LSU and they were married at Christ the King Chapel in the summer of 1959. After four years in New Orleans where she was instrumental in encouraging her husbands medical studies and raising a young son, the couple embarked on a ten year Navy career, with duty stations at Jacksonville, FL NAS, Pensacola, FL, Key West, FL, San Diego, CA and Camp Lejeune, NC.
Along the way the couple were blessed with two more sons, and in 1973 moved to Baton Rouge to join an Ophthalmology practice with doctors Paul Marks, Albion Cross, Charles Afeman and Kirk Patrick Jr. Mary Beth tackled the task of raising children, designing and maintaining a household, and took time to pursue her love for art. She went back to LSU in the late 1970s receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1981. She was a scintillating woman, literally loved by all who knew her. In 1988 she was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. She kept up a tenacious battle through the years, continuing to enjoy her home, her family, singing in the choir at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and her art. She was a gifted illustrator and oil painter.
Preceded in death by her parents, James G. Meadors and Irma Greuling Meadors and older sister, Agnes Barbara Meadors. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Crayton A. Fargason, Sr. three sons, Dr. Crayton A. Fargason Jr. and wife Dr. Rachel Fargason of Birmingham AL, James Scott Fargason and wife Meshelle of Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. David Fargason and wife Dr. Donna Fargason of Baton Rouge, LA eight grandchildren, Jimmy Philip Fargason of St. Louis, MO, Talia, David and Julia Fargason of Birmingham AL, Ellen and Jake Fargason of Baton Rouge, LA, Amelia Kate and Sarah Abigail Fargason of Baton Rouge, LA and several nieces and cousins.

Visiting hours will be observed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave Baton Rouge, LA 70808, on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Reception to follow services in Parish Hall. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
