Mary Doughty

Mary Edith Hadden Doughty “Edie” passed away on November 8, 2023 at Central Guest House in Baton Rouge after complications from a recent stroke. She was 93 years old and a long time resident of Walker, LA. Edie was born in Slaughter LA in East Feliciana Parish on February 27, 1930 to John and Lizzie Steele Hadden as the 7th of 8 children. She was a 1947 graduate of Zachary High School. She was a telephone operator for South Central Bell in Baton Rouge for 3 years until her marriage to C. W. Doughty on March 9, 1951 and then became a stay-at- home mom and homemaker. She loved being outdoors, gardening, soaking up the sun, walking and enjoying nature. She is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Shirley Perry (Russell), Milton Doughty (Judy), and David Doughty (Bridget), 3 granddaughters, Ashley Doughty Gray (Jerry), Kristen Doughty Jastram (Bryan), and Lisa Doughty Roy (Ty) and 4 great grandchildren, Collin and Grant Jastram, Grayson and Caroline Roy. She is also survived by her sister Betty Hadden Pope (Robin) and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, C. W. Doughty, her parents John and Lizzie Hadden, 3 sisters, Margaret Palmer, Annie Mae Doughty, Jessie Johnson, 3 brothers, Ewen “Bud” Hadden, Roy Hadden, and Robert Hadden, her in laws Ernest and Lissie Doughty, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm followed by funeral services at 2:30 pm, all at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Services will be conducted by Pastor Albert Pendarvis. Pallbearers will be Bryan Jastram, Collin Jastram, Ty Roy, Jerry Gray, Milton Doughty, and David Doughty.
