Mary Campo, affectionately known as “Mimi”, 66, of Baton Rouge, passed away on January 2, 2021 at 10:48 a.m. in Baton Rouge, LA. Mary was born in New Orleans, LA to John (“Jack”) and Joyce Flynn on May 8, 1954.
She was a true lady who strove every day to be “everything to everyone”. In almost all cases she succeeded.
After graduation from Mt. Carmel Academy in New Orleans, Mary married the love of her life, Dr. Nick Campo Jr. at the age of 17. After raising her two sons, Nick Campo III and Adam Campo, she worked as a speech pathologist. She was forced to resign when diagnosed with breast cancer (which she overcame) after earning her B.S. and M.S. in speech language pathology at LSU. She then moved on to her 15 year career in real estate, serving officially as the CFO for Adam Campo Real Estate and unofficially as all of the staff members’ and tenants’ fairy godmother. Nick and Mary remained married for fifty years until the day of her untimely and unexpected death. Although she achieved a great deal in the formal sense, her greatest accomplishments were found in her connection with people. If you were to ask anyone (even a simple acquaintance) who or what Mary Campo was, the answer you would likely get would be “She was an angel”.
Until we meet again, sweetheart.
