Mary Bruner

March 12, 1925 — August 29, 2010

Mary Frances Dew Bruner, born March 12, 1925, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. A Baton Rouge resident, Mary Frances grew up in Marion, Ala. She graduated valedictorian from Perry County High School in 1942, and received her bachelors degree at Judson College in 1946. She received a degree in social work at LSU in 1948. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Hawley Wolfe and the Rev. Harriett Cale. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warner Lee Bruner Jr. and father and mother, John and Nell Dew. Survived by her three sons, John Lee Bruner, of Flowood, Miss., Warner Lee Bruner, M.D., of Baton Rouge, and David Dew Bruner, of New York City. Mary Frances is also survived by two daughtersinlaw, Billy Bruner, M.D., of Flowood, and Janet Bruner, of Baton Rouge and three grandsons, Christopher L. Bruner, John P. Bruner and David T. Bruner. Mary Frances was a loving mother and dear friend. She was a faithful member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, and a member of P.E.O. Chapter AJ. Her name was synonymous with hospitality. She never lost her love for learning and travel and will be missed dearly.
