Mary Blum, a resident of Denham Springs, LA, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born in Missouri, raised in Granite City, Il, then moved to Louisiana as an adult. She started her career as an accomplished dog groomer in 1965 and opened Velvet Touch Pet Spa in 1977 that is still in operation today. She also owned Touchable Tan for over 10 years.
Mary was a devoted and loving mother and wife. Mary is survived by her husband of 37 years, Walter Blum, her son Tony R. Gafford Jr. and wife Sherri, her daughter, Nancy Gafford Blount and husband Norland, stepdaughter, Christine Blum Guidry and husband Craig. Eight grandchildren: Nadia May and husband Chad, Dexter Shirah and wife Samantha, Tiffany Gafford Atwell and husband Kody, Colton Shirah and wife Taylor, Tony Gafford III, Anna Gafford, Jack Guidry, and Wyatt Guidry. Eight great-grandchildren, Jayden May, Paxton Shirah, Breliegh Atwell, Camden May, Ainslee Shirah, Jameson Atwell, Gracie Shirah, and Corbin Shirah. Along with her siblings; brothers: Jim Schueren and wife Judy, Mike Schueren and wife Violet, Dennis Schueren, Arnold Schueren; Sisters: Virginia Wilkens, Nancy Neal, Betsey Cohen, Peggy Sheets. Along with nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 12:30PM until services at 2:30PM with a burial to follow.
The pallbearers will be Dexter Shirah, Colton Shirah, Tony Gafford III, Chad May, Jack Guidry, and Wyatt Guidry.
