Mary Evelyn McKey Betz, a native of Centreville, MS and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 71. She was a beautician until she became a mother. She loved to sew, craft, and work in her gardens. Marys real joy were her eight grandsons. She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Howard Ray Betz three daughters, Missy Martin and husband Alan, Traci Gardner and husband Jeff, and Amy Abadie and husband Jimmy grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Martin, Garrett and Greer Gardner, Noah, Andrew, Asa, and Luke Abadie two sisters, Linda Rogillio and Maxine Compton and three brothers, Rawlins Elmo McKey, Robert McKey, and Rafford McKey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Willie Mae McKey and brother, Eugene McKey.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am conducted by Pastor Lewis Richerson. Pallbearers will be Rawlie McKey, Robert McKey, Randy Rogillio, Jerry Betz, Jeff Betz, and Steve Myers. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons and nephew, Shane McKey. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
