Mary Ammons

Mary Opal Heard Ammons, age 94, who was a native of Converse, LA, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on June 18, 2015.

Mary was an East Baton Rouge Parish school teacher for over 30 years. In those many years, she taught 1st grade to her son, daughter-in-law, and many family friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ammons; sons, David Ammons and wife Lorraine, and Steve Ammons and wife Janice; grandchildren, Brian and wife Sunni, Blake and wife Sheri, Andrew and wife Taylor, and Christopher Ammons; four great-grandchildren; sister, Erble Wiggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ellis Cedric Ammons; parents, Sherwood and Texie Heard; brothers, Neal Heard, Hamp Heard, and Willard Heard; and sister, Faye Meller.

Graveside service will take place on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA.
