Cathy Abshire

Mary Catherine “Cathy” Abshire, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on May 5, 1947, to Carl and Phyllis Abshire.

After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Tulsa University, Cathy pursued various career paths before finding her true calling as a dedicated Probation and Parole Officer. Her unwavering commitment to helping and supporting others left a lasting impact on those she worked with.

In her free time, Cathy found joy in a variety of hobbies, such as crafting, celebrating Halloween, and decorating for the holidays. She also loved puzzles, traveling, singing, and playing the banjo. Above all, Cathy cherished spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren, and being a foster parent.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Phyllis Abshire; her husband, Charlie Adams; her sister, Diane DeKaratry; her brother Sandy Abshire; and her grandson, Jonathan.

Cathy is survived by her children, Samantha Hawkins (Aaron), John Adams (Karen), and Rick Adams (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Nicholas, Katerina, Ethan, Caleb, Jaxon and Liam; and her brother, John Abshire.

Relatives and friends are invited to join us in a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10 a.m.  A Visitation will be held beginning at 9 a.m.
