Martin L. Bienvenu Jr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at 4:45 a.m. at Lakewood Quarters. He was 94, a native of St. Martinville and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired photo engraver with The Morning Advocate. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Mable O. Bienvenu three daughters, Jo Bienvenu and partner Carrie Frazier, Pauline Wood and husband Edward, and M.J. Bienvenu and partner Kendra Smith sister, Evelyn Castex four grandchildren, Tim Wood, Sophia Bell, Bonnie Jo Gable and Penny Lucas and 10 greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Martin L. Sr. and Pauline B. Bienvenu first wife, Hazel Bienvenu brother, James Bienvenu and greatgrandson, Timmy WilkinsColes. Pallbearers will be Tim Wood, Rory Bell, Philip Gable, Randy Pippins, Sam Williamson and Penny Lucas. Honorary pallbearers are Sophia Bell, Bonnie Jo Gable, Nick LeFors and Daryl Argrave. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1939 of the Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana Association of the Deaf, Baton Rouge Association of the Deaf and National Fraternity Society of the Deaf.
