Martha Burtt

October 26, 1919 — January 20, 2015

Martha Effie Hall Burtt, native of New Iberia, LA, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at The Carpenter House. Traveling was one of the hobbies she enjoyed, having traveled extensively through all 50 states and abroad. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Martha was a devoted member of First United Methodist for over 50 years. She was a graduate of New Iberia High School, obtained her B.S. from Northwestern College, her M.S. from Peabody, now known as Vanderbilt, and her Master's +30 from LSU.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha "Mackie" Hall Burtt; sons, David Ashby Burtt, II and Richard Nereaux Burtt; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Ashby Burtt and Richie Burtt.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, David Ashby Burtt; parents, Earl W. and Vida N. Hall, Sr.; and brother, Earl W. Hall, Jr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802, from 10:30 am until service time.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 pm conducted by Reverend Brady Whitton.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Fund at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
