Martha Cooper Brown, age 84, who was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on December 14, 2015 at St. Joseph's Carpenter House. She was a graduate of Eupora High School in Eupora, MS and Mississippi State College for Women (now known as The W) in Columbus, MS. She worked as a dietician at the Baton Rouge General Hospital for several years before adopting her children and becoming a full time Mom. She also helped her husband build a successful insurance claims adjusting business. She was an active member of University Baptist Church and loved to cook. She was well known for her skills in the kitchen.
She is survived by her son, Stephen L. Brown and his wife Cindy, her daughter Mary Jane Cutrer and her husband Michael; five granddaughters, Dr. Lauren Brown Sanders and her husband Bill, Haleigh Turner, Mary Katherine Brown, Hope Turner and Madison Cutrer; step grandsons, Kyle and Kaleb Cutrer; and one sister, Mary Ann McNeer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Pat. S. Brown, Jr. and by her parents, Troy and Sammie Cooper.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 from 9:00am till 12:00pm, followed thereafter by a funeral service. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 11817 Jefferson Highway Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University Baptist Church, St. Joseph's Carpenter House, or a charity of your choice.
