Marshall Deloach Kilroy, Jr., 76, of Sebring, Florida passed away July 27, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA.
Marshall graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1959 and later attended University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. He enlisted in the USAF and served as a medic during the Berlin Crisis until August 1964. In the early 1970's, Marshall began his 40+ year career in environmental engineering services, planning, and remediation. Beginning with the EPA in the early '70's, Marshall's career progressed at Rollins Environmental, Radian Corp, Dames & Moore, and URS (now Aecom NV.) Marshall acted as Sr. Environmental Scientist, a specialist in planning CERCLA and RCRA compliance. Highlights of his career included contract work for the 325th CES at Tyndall AFB, Panama City, FL, and later subcontracts for the DOE at both the Y12 and K25 sites in Oak Ridge, TN. For the last 15 years, Marshall worked contract at the HQ of the Avon Park Air Force Range in FL where he retired in July 2014. Over the course of his life, in his spare time, Marshall enjoyed his classic Corvettes, freshwater bass fishing, maintaining his home, and in his later years, had become an avid golfer.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Martha "Molly" Kilroy of Sebring, FL; a son, Kelly H. Kilroy and daughter-in-law, Kelly McCarthy of Tampa, FL; a step daughter, Cynthia and Jim Storm of Harrisburg, PA; and ex-wife and friend, Joy Lynn Kilroy of Baton Rouge, LA.
He is preceded in death by his father, Marshall D. Kilroy, Sr. and Elizabeth Christine Kilroy of Baton Rouge, LA.
Marshall was a long-time member of Saint Catherine Catholic Church, the Sebring Golf Association, and belonged to several organizations including the VFW Post 4300, American Legion Post 25, Lake Placid, FL, and AmVets Post 21, Sebring, FL.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 11:00am until prayer service at 1:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00am at Saint Catherine Catholic Church, 820 Hickory Street, Sebring, FL, telephone number is 863-385-0049.
