Marlin Dearmond

June 5, 1920 — December 27, 2010

Mott DeArmond was born June 6, 1920 in Acy, Louisiana. He died December 27, 2010 at the age of 90 at the martial home in Baker, Louisiana he shared for 56 years with his beloved wife of 68 years, Vernie Eve Wunstel DeArmond, who preceded him in death on July 28, 2010. In a reversal of the movie Where the Red Fern Grows, Old Dan died of a broken heart for his Little Ann. Mott DeArmond, during the depression, worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps as did many young boys and men, and later served in WWII in the US Army as a Private. He retired from McPete Chevrolet after working for 37 years as a Master Mechanic. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 9am until service at 11am conducted by Rev. Bill Bolton. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Good Shephard in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his sister, Shirley Denham his only daughter, Marian DeArmond Hymel and her exhusband, Donald G. Hymel Sr. grandchildren, Lynette and husband Richard Johnson Donald G. Hymel Jr. Marlin Michael Hymel and wife Sue Vernon Allen Hymel and his wife Christine 10 greatgrandchildren 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived also by his lifelong friends, Mr. Gerald and Joy Bonds. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Jackson DeArmond and Mary Olivia Leche DeArmond brothers, Joseph Maurice DeArmond and Samuel Allen DeArmond sisters, Lelia May Morgan, Hilda Wilma Arceneaux, Minnie Menrvia Ashford, Clara Amielee DeArmond and Nancy Verda Smith. Pallbearers will be Donald G. Hymel Sr., Donald G. Hymel Jr., Marlin Michael Hymel, Vernon Allen Hymel and Michael Lester Johnson. The family would like to thank the caregiver sitters, Gaye Carroll and Tracie Bolyer. Also the family would like to send a most heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Clarity Hospice for the care of Mr. and Mrs. DeArmond in their final days.
