Marlene Stokley

December 11, 1942 — December 28, 2022

Marlene Verbois Stokley, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022.  She was a resident and native of Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from St. Anthony High School and became a secretary in the insurance world.  Marlene loved volunteering at her children’s schools, talking to her grandchildren, and talking on the phone with her siblings. She had a great sense of humor, even if she was laughing at herself. She taught us to eat our dessert first, especially when there is a crowd.  Marlene is survived by her beloved sons, Marlin “Chris” Stokley (wife Rachel), Gregory Keith Stokley, and her favorite daughter, Michelle Stokley Miller (husband Mark); sisters, Lynette Reine (husband Kenneth), Brenda Jones (husband Curtis), and Loretta McGehee (husband Rodney); grandchildren, Raven Stokley, Gabrielle Stokley, Savanah Stokley, Shaye Stokley, Brandon Stokley, and Evangeline Miller, also survived by numerous loved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton L. Stokley; parents, Morgan Vincent Verbois and Irma Elise Poirier Verbois; daughter-in-law Kelly Stokley; sisters, Connie Mathis, Rita Kahl and Mona Aucoin; brothers, Michael, Gary and Eric Verbois. Visitation will take place at Resthaven on January 5, 2023 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am until services start at 11:00. Burial will follow the services at Resthaven.
