Mark A. Starr, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 67. Mark was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 28, 1956, son of the late Sara Hancock and C. Clifford Starr. After earning his bachelor’s from The Ohio State University, Mark pursued his passion for sales, eventually finding his job with Smiths South-Central Sales as a Territory Sales Manager.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mark also discovered joy in gold-panning, and was a former member of Gold Prospectors Association of America. In his free time, Mark enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents C. Clifford Starr and Sara Hancock Starr, sister Theresa Starr, brother Gregory Starr, and his nephew Jimmy Mudd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Denise Starr; sisters Mary C. Kuhn (Leo), Sally Mudd (David), Juli Wagner (Jim), and Martha Ray (Ken); brother Jim Starr (Bonnie); many beloved nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews, including great-niece Amber, whom he helped to raise, and great-great nephew Mitchell, whom he and Denise have been helping to raise; and his life-long best friend whom he considered as a brother, Dene Passafiume.
Mark's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Smiths South-Central Sales, for their love and loyalty, especially Robert Smith and Tommy Stahl whom Mark so greatly loved and admired. To all the dealers that Mark worked with, he was dedicated to building your businesses, and we thank each and every one of you.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can by made in Mark's name to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area.
We would like to invite all who knew and loved Mark to join us for visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home on August 18, 2024, from 12pm until 4pm, as we honor and reminisce the life of Mark A. Starr.
