Mark Louis Simmons was born on Sept. 26, 1955, in Jacksonville, Fla., and passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011, at the age of 55 after a lengthy, courageous battle with the complications associated with diabetes. Although he was raised mostly in Texas, Mark chose Baton Rouge to be his home. Mark was a proud Texas AM Aggie, Class of 1977, but a true fan of the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mark was employed by the Williams Co. as a mechanical engineer. He will be remembered for his loving and caring personality, strong Christian faith, and his enduring strength. Mark is survived by his wife Lisa Simmons daughters, Kate Beard and husband Jonathan, and Alexis Gibson grandson, Aiden Beard parents, Louis and Betty Simmons sister, Debra Monroe and husband Howard nieces, Sarah Sanders and husband Chad, and Laura Webb and husband Aaron and grandnieces, Anna and Catherine Sanders. A private memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 15. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marks name to the American Diabetes Association .
