Mark Mahaffey

June 19, 1990 — August 22, 2021

Mark Douglas Mahaffey, age 31, a resident of Baton Rouge, La, passed away on August 22, 2021. Mark attended Parkview Baptist School and played baseball, soccer, and was a drummer in the Eagles band and Marching band where he entertained as a soloist. He was an avid gamer and fierce competitor on the online gaming stage. Mark was honored by being listed in The Who’s Who Among American High School Students 2006-2007. He was a member of the Latin Club and Business Leaders.

Mark had a love of most music genres. His favorite group was Pretty Lights with whom he traveled all over the country with as their Marketing manager. His last concert was Paul McCartney in New Orleans, La which he attended with his mother. Music was a daily part of his life. His passion was cooking where he was a trained Chef for a few Fine Dining restaurants the latest being Palace Cafe in New Orleans. He enjoyed family beach vacations to Florida and Hawaii along with trips to Colorado, Texas, Chicago, Tennessee, and more. Mark loved animals especially his cats Zora, Rebel, & Charlie Harper.

Mark was a free and gentle spirit, had a huge heart, never met a stranger, was loving, kind, and generous. Mark was proud to talk about his love for his parents and especially his love and admiration for his grandfathers, uncle, and Pastor Ron Tyndall, who were his role models. Mark had a strong faith in the lord and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mark is survived by his Mother, Kelly Field of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his father Jack Douglas Mahaffey of Chicago, his half-brother Kevin Mahaffey and half-sister Kailyn Mahaffey, his maternal grandfather Elmer Field Jr (Aleta), maternal grandmother Barbara Waters Field, His Aunt Tracy Field Rambosek and Uncle Christopher Rambosek of Houston, TX, his Uncle David Mahaffey, his cousins Adam Ducote, Garrett Goetzinger, Scott Goetzinger, Emma Goetzinger, Matthew Scott Field, Morgan Mahaffey Frioux, Michelle Mahaffey, and his special friend Hannah Gagneaux and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Sally Mahaffey and his uncle Thom Scott Field.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held in the near future.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Parkview Baptist School Marching Band in honor of Mark Douglas Mahaffey.
