Career and Accomplishments
Mark Edwin Holloway Sr. then embarked on a remarkable career in the power plant industry. He was not only respected for his leadership and expertise but also admired for his unwavering integrity and work ethic. Working for many large companies, Mark’s career included positions as a project manager and superintendent on the highest profile projects for each company he worked for. He was known for his multifaceted craft expertise in piping, code welding, equipment setting, rigging, structural steel and civil. Despite all his responsibilities, Mark took many opportunities to teach those who were eager to learn about this trade. Those he taught knew they were learning from the best. In the eyes of many co-workers Mark was a true leader and treated his workers fairly.
From a brother who worked with him in Louisiana,
“Mark had an air of confidence, never arrogance.”
Family and Personal Life
Though his career had him traveling the world Mark made his home base Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he met his loving wife, Jackie. He was a devoted spouse, parent, sibling, uncle, and friend. He cherished every moment spent with loved ones. Out of high school Mark dove into the rodeo scene clowning and riding bareback but soon realized his safe and treasured hobbies were hunting, fishing, golf, growing vegetables in his garden, and barbequing/outdoor cooking for family and friends. Family was the cornerstone of Mark’s life. It was always a special occasion at the deer lease when Mark went into town, bought 50 lbs. of Porter House Steaks to throw on the pit for his brothers and nephews. He often cooked crawfish for his Louisiana family and friends as they all gathered to help during crawfish season just to celebrate being together.
Mark Edwin Holloway Sr. was also a member of Masonic Lodge, where he found community and fellowship, further enriching his life and the lives of those around him.
As described by his family,
Mark loved unconditionally. His BIG hugs, his “Hey Baby” greeting, and his sweet nature will be forever missed. All of us knew we could count on Mark for any kind of support whether it be a good listener or even asking for his last dollar. He would give you the shirt off his back if needed and often did. He was witty and had an infectious laugh. He was the toughest at times, but also the kindest.
A quote from one of his nephews,
“While there are many parts of each of us that paint a picture of who we are as a person, Mark’s love had the brightest colors in his portrait of a great man.”
Funeral Service
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace, Mark. Your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
