June 28, 1931 — August 11, 2018

Marjorie Delullah White Tucker; a real estate broker, mortgage loan originator, notary and retired director of laboratory services for many years, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, after suffering from a lengthy illness. She was 87. She lived in Shreveport from 1952 to 1963, Baton Rouge from 1963 to 2005, and Prairieville from 2005 to present.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, La., from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Visitation will continue the next day from 9 to 11 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Ray Varnado of the Louisiana Conference, United Methodist Church. Burial will immediately follow religious services at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Marjorie was born June 28, 1931, in Castor, La., to John Floyd White and Lucy Leone Lawson White. She grew up in Castor and was a 1948 Honors graduate of Castor High School and a 1952 Medical Technology graduate of Northwestern State College where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Beta Beta Beta Honor Society, and the University Debate Team.

Marjorie was also known for her style, grace, and captivating good looks. During college, she was named a 1948 Potpourri Freshman Beauty, and in 1950 was elected to the State Fair Court and named a Potpourri Junior Beauty. She lived by the mantra that "pretty girls need pretty things," an expression imparted to her by her late uncle, Floyd Bogan. To the very end, Marjorie dressed impeccably and was a well-known patron of Chico's in Baton Rouge. She loved to shop, especially with her daughter and granddaughters.

In 1985, Marjorie earned a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. Her professional affiliations included the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors, Louisiana Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, and the Baton Rouge Society for Medical Technologists.

Marjorie is survived by one son, Clyde Rupert Tucker Jr. and wife, Anne, of Prairieville; a daughter, Rebecca Lea Tucker Pennington and husband, Royce, of Thibodaux; four grandchildren; John Christopher Tucker, Matthew Ryan Tucker, Taylor Rebecca Landry, Ashley Brette Landry Burck and husband, William; and three great grandchildren; Vincent Alexander Burck, Miles Russell Burck, and Cypress Mark Messer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Rupert Tucker Sr.; two sons, Charles Wayne Tucker and John Michael Tucker; parents, John Floyd White and Lucy Leone Lawson White; and brothers, Johnnie Wayne White and Bobbie Lavarre White.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff members of Home Instead of Baton Rouge, especially Trinesha Dorsey; Thibodaux Healthcare Center, especially Kayla Benoit; and St. Catherine's Hospice, especially Melissa Gros, for the excellent care and attention given to our mother during the past year.
