Marion F. “Frank” Keegan passed away on November 4, 2024. He was born on April 13, 1934, in Alexandria, LA, to Melbourne Francis Keegan and Mary Geneva Gregory Keegan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his identical twin brother, Melbourne F. “Freddie” Keegan; brother, Irvin Thomas “Bootsie” Gregory; sister, Dorothy Keegan; and stepfather, Thomas Fred Propst.
He is survived by his wife, T.J., of 63 years; children, Kathleen Anna Keene (Chris) and Kyle Melbourne Keegan; granddaughters, Caitlin Keene Halloran (Evan), Alexandra Keene, Elle, Anna and Ava Keegan and their mother Elena Moreno Keegan; sister-in-law, Barbara Keegan; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Vickie Propst.
Frank graduated from LSU in January 1957 at which time he received a United States Army 2nd Lieutenant commission through LSU ROTC. He was assigned to Infantry Officers basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. At the conclusion of his training, he was remanded to the U.S. Army Reserve. After serving for seven years, he resigned with an honorable discharge in 1965 as a U.S. Army Reserve Captain. He and TJ met through mutual friends in Baton Rouge in 1959 and were married in 1961 at First Methodist Church. Their first date was the LSU/Ole Miss football game of Billy Cannon’s famous run. They have lived most of their lives in Baton Rouge, and for a few years in Lafayette, Metairie, and Mandeville. Frank was an avid LSU fan and was thrilled that his children chose to attend LSU, proud that both went on to receive a Law Degree from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. His greatest joy came later with being blessed with his five wonderful granddaughters. He was their “Poppy,” and he loved them dearly and they loved him right back! Frank spent most of his working years in industrial sales and at the ripe old age of 69 retired as National Accounts Manager from Velan Valve Corp. He made many friends in his traveling and selling. But he never forgot the first friends he made as a child in Alexandria. He still talked often with many of them. He treasured the many friends he came to know in Shenandoah Subdivision where he and TJ lived with their family for 20 years. As per his request, his Christian funeral service and burial will be small with immediate family and officiated by close friend, Tyler Lafauci at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
