A lifelong resident of the Baton Rouge community and the last surviving of twelve children of Oliver David and Emma Kent Noble, Mrs. Major died on Friday, April 15th at the Baton Rouge General Medical CenterMid City. She was 90. A graduate of Baton Rouge General Nursing School, she was a Registered Nurse and practiced for many years in the Baton Rouge area. She retired in 1980 from Earl K. Long Hospital. During her lifetime, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge and Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Oliver Keen and Joseph Wilford Major Papa Bill a son, James Oliver Keen Jr. and a grandson, Alexander Hawkins Keen. She is survived by her son, Richard Keen and wife, Beth Crews Keen of Ashton, Maryland six grandchildren, Kelly Keen Sajonia Jennifer and Kristen Keen Caroline Keen Ruggiero Crews and Jordan Keen and two great grandchildren, Isabelle and Aiden Sajonia as well as many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, April 23 from 10:00am until service at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to individual home churches.
