Marian Sternberg

Marian Kelly Sternberg passed away on December 22, 2014 at the age of 81 at Old Jefferson Community Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Kelly, Sr. and Marian Louise Kelly. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Ernest Kelly Jr. and Harold Kelly and her sister, Sue Ellen Kelly. She is survived by daughters, Melanie Borek Richard and Gail Sternberg Richard Dickerson grandchildren, Matthew Arnold Nicole, Ryan Sternberg, Jessica Gill Byron, and Dylan Grace Sternberg and three great grandchildren, Sidney, Lucas, and Madeline Gill. She was born in Brunswick, Georgia on August 22, 1933 and graduated from Wilcox County High School. She attended college in Valdosta, Georgia. She travelled to Japan to Johnsons Air Force Base to marry Samuel Theodore Sternberg. Although they later divorced, they remained friends and attended many family events together. She worked in medical records at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans and later moved to Baton Rouge to be near her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted employee of Ochsner in medical records until she retired. She loved watching movies, listening to music and politics. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
