Margie Rauch

November 10, 1926 — July 3, 2016

Margie left this earthly world on Sunday, July 3, 2016. She was a beautiful flower that never faded for 89 years. She was born on November 10, 1926, in the little Texas town of Dundee, to Horbert and Johnnie Johnston Rea. She had an older sister, Nadine (Dean), and an older brother, Howard (Bud). She is preceded in death by all these family members.

She married Warren Albert Rauch, a New Orleans native, on January 4, 1959. They had been married for 50 years at the time of his death in December 2009. She is survived by her only child, Kitty Kogos, son-in-law, Gerald Kogos, granddaughters Marnie and Christy Kogos, all of Baton Rouge; two nephews Byron Riddle and "Scooter" Franques of Texas; other nieces and nephews; and two very dear, lifelong friends, Marquetta Kleinpeter and Lucille Firmin, of the Baton Rouge area.

Although she moved to Baton Rouge as a teenager with her family, you could never take the Texas out of her. The friendly, fun-loving Texas spirit was "branded into her." She always wanted to make everyone feel welcomed, loved, and respected, offering her big, beautiful smile. Some of her various jobs included school crossing guard, cosmetologist, and working at the LA Insurance Rating Commission, where she met some of her dearest friends.

The family would like to express their deep thanks to her treating physician, Dr. Renee Daigle, her home sitters after the death of her husband, the staff and caregivers at Sunrise at Siegen for their loving care of her in the last year, the attentive care of the ER and ICU units of BR General during her struggle with pneumonia, and the Butterfly Wing of Mid City BR General during her final, peaceful days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
