Margie L. Mathis, 60, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Houston, TX and was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Margie loved shopping and spending time with her family. She was an amazing caregiver, and her selfless act of love and kindness touched many people throughout her life. She helped support birth mothers and adoptive parents throughout the adoption process every step of the way.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, John Mathis three sons, Bradley Barbay, Stephen Mathis and wife Heather, and John Trey Mathis seven grandchildren, Christopher, Savannah, Sawyer, Maddi, Kayla, Avery and soon to be born, baby boy Mathis two sisters, Patsy Darby and Jeanette Boyd and husband Jimmy brother, Tommy LeBlanc and wife Gayle and 16 nieces and nephews, 45 great nieces and nephews and 35 greatgreat nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Robert and Dorothy Prather LeBlanc and two brothers, Pete LeBlanc and Bobby LeBlanc.
Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11:00 am until funeral service at 12:00 noon, conducted by Preston Thompson. Pallbearers will be Bradley Barbay, Stephen Mathis, John Trey Mathis, Eric Klienpeter, Mike Esthay and Karl Blanton. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Parker and Jonathan Howard. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
