We will run and not grow weary, for our God will be our strength and we will fly like the eagle we shall rise again. Margery Besson passed away on Sunday morning, March 21, 2010. She was born on Pecan Plantation in Plaquemine in 1932 to Cecile Songy Laurent and Cyril L. Laurent. She was a 1948 graduate of St. John High School and resident of Baton Rouge since 1955. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Ave., Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, March 23, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Tom Ranzino and the Rev. Mike Schatzle. Entombment in St. George Mausoleum. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Dewey J. Besson Jr. daughters, Sheree and husband David Hernandez, and Dana Owens sons, Daryl and wife Kayren Besson, and Bret and wife Cindy Besson granddaughter, Taya Owens grandsons, Jason Besson, Joshua Besson, Bradley and wife Kristen Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Robby and wife Holly Owens, Caleb Owens, Cory and wife Elysia Besson, and Andrew and wife Amanda Besson four greatgrandsons, Matthew Besson, Jacob Besson and Conner and Carson Owens sister, Janice Landry and brother and sisterinlaw, C.L. Jack and Pucky Laurent. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by George Landry and two special angels, nephew, Michael Laurent, and greatnephew, Cody Navarre. She was an active member of St. George Catholic Church since 1960, having served in many ministries through the years for church and school, including the Liturgy Committee, Eucharistic minister, lector, sacristan and RCIA team member. Margery also served the Diocese of Baton Rouge for several years as a lector for the televised Mass. She was an organ donor in hope that she might give the gift of life to others. Anyone wishing to do so may make memorial contributions in her memory to St. George Catholic Church with the hope that they continue to grow and nourish Gods people.
