Marjorie Bridget Roundtree, 91, was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Thomas J. Roundtree, Sr. and Brigitte Adams Roundtree. A graduate of Thibodaux High School, she graduated from The Southwestern Louisiana Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master's of Education from Nicholls State College. She worked as a dietician for some years in Texas before returning to Louisiana to pursue a degree in education. She taught fourth grade and special education in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes before retiring. She also created two work books "Louisiana for Little Folks and "Louisiana for Lower Grades" which taught children about the State of Louisiana. While in Thibodaux, she helped her cousin Lela Wesche establish Lee's Education Center which sold school supplies for teachers with stores in Thibodaux, Houma and Morgan City. After the death of her father, the family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She took painting classes in Baton Rouge and took care of her mother and brother Harold. Margie also helped take care of her great nieces and nephews Melissa Stanley Dottley, Luke Aaron Mumphrey, Jessica Mumphrey Mercer.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Catherine Roundtree, Lynn P. Roundtree of Durham, NC, Linda Mumphrey and husband Martin, Johnette Taylor and husband Meredith of Dallas, Texas, Randall and Ronald Roundtree of Plano, Texas; her great niece, Taylor Dottley and great nephews, Morris and Glenn Mercer. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Roundtree and Brenda Roundtree.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her three brothers, Thomas Joseph Roundtree, Jr., Harold James Roundtree and Richard Charles Roundtree; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Joseph Roundtree Sr.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 8:00am until services at 9:30am. Burial to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
