Malcolm V. Windham Jr., beloved husband for 67 years of Betty Garig Windham passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge on April 3, 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Windham, and their three daughters, Elizabeth Windham Hartzog, Laurie Windham and Leslie Windham. Born in Hattiesburg, MS on July 9, 1924, to parents Mae Neal and Malcolm V. Windham Sr., he is also survived by his sister, Juanita Matherne, of Baton Rouge. In addition to his wife, daughters and sister, Windham is survived by his six grandchildren, Austin Meyer and wife Brittany, Katie Hartzog Simmons and husband Michael, Karen Hartzog, Carole Hartzog Bourey and husband Guillaume, Nathan Hartzog and Andrew Hartzog, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Windham graduated from Baton Rouge High School, where he was a star player on the basketball team. During WWII, Windham was selected by the special forces of the US Army to study meteorology at Harvard University and University of Oregon. After the war, Windham went on to complete his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at LSU. Upon completion of his career at Phillips Petroleum Inc., in Houston, TX and having successfully seen his three daughters through college, Windham and his wife, Betty, re-established life in Baton Rouge. Windham returned to his alma mater, LSU, where he served in facilities and operations management for ten years and never tired of watching the LSU Tigers play ball. As an avid golfer, he was very proud of his hole-in-one on the LSU golf course, at 80 years of age.
Visitation for Malcolm Windham will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home from 1-2 PM on Friday, with a graveside service immediately following.
