Malcolm Caillier

October 16, 1924 — December 11, 2011

Malcolm Mitchell Caillier was born Oct. 16, 1924, and passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was a World War II Navy veteran of both the Pacific and Atlantic theatres and Okinawa, serving with the Seabees. He was also a participant of the World War II Honor Flight, a barber in Baton Rouge for 45 years, and owner of Malcolm Caillier Builders, Inc. His passions were his family, deer hunting, and speckled trout fishing. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Vergie Guidry Caillier, of Baton Rouge two daughters and sonsinlaw, Patricia Ann and Paul Domke, of Baton Rouge, and Carolyn Marie and Louie Cinquemano, of Katy, Texas son and daughterinlaw, Donald Mitchell and Betsy Jones Caillier, of Clinton six granddaughters, Michele Domke and Chris Ashy, of Baker, Angela Cinquemano, of Baton Rouge, Tara Domke and Raymond Dyer, of Prairieville, Carly Cinquemano and Jimmy Carughi, of Baton Rouge, Keri Domke and Sgt. Caesar Camacho, of Converse, Texas, and Dr. Mary Leah Caillier and Jeremy Coco, of Baton Rouge seven greatgrandchildren, Nicholas Holden Ashy, Madison Anne Camacho, Antonio James Carughi, Tavio Cinquemano, Annie Claire Coco, Chayse Alivia Camacho, and Charlotte Grace Camacho two brothers, Ralph David Caillier Sr. and wife Mary Lou, and Carroll J. Caillier and wife Mary and two sisters, Marella Caillier Miller and husband Francis Miller, and Betty Caillier Guidry and husband Kercy Guidry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillian Caillier, of Breaux Bridge. Pallbearers will be Butch Graham, Glenn Watts Sr., Dr. Mervin Wampold, Dr. Walter Lowe, Marvin ONeal, and Clayton Hudson Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Domke, Louie Cinquemano, Chris Ashy, Raymond Dyer, Jimmy Carughi, Sgt. Caesar Camacho, and Jeremy Coco. Our special gratitude is extended to the staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, especially nurses Lori and Tryg, and Dr. Raven at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, Carpenter House, 17732 Highland Road, Suite G, Box 241, Baton Rouge, LA, 70810. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
