Wayne Robert Fuller Jr. passed away at home of pancreatic cancer surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was 62 and retired from the U.S. Army. He was born in Macon, Ga., to the late Wayne Robert Fuller Sr. and the late Mary Oreta Wood Fuller. Major Fuller was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Hawaii, and a distinguished military graduate from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Ga. Upon graduation he was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. During his 20 years of service in the military he also served in Korea, Italy and Germany. He retired from the military in 1988. Upon retirement from the U.S. Army, he moved to Baton Rouge to teach high school ROTC first at Istrouma High School, then Broadmoor High School. He retired in July 2008 after teaching for 20 years. Major Fuller received many awards for community services he performed during his 21 years in Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, May 4, from 6 p.m. until memorial service at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Addison. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Fuller; two daughters, Shannon Fuller, of Baton Rouge, and Stephanie Richard and husband Tony, of Prairieville; two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Brooke Elise Richard and Ava Claire Richard; brother, Mark Fuller and wife Kim, of Plains, Ga.; sister, Nancy Fuller, of Columbus, Ga.; niece, Mandy Fuller, of Plains; nephew and namesake, Wayne Robert Bud Fuller III, of Plains; and beloved dog, Casey.
