After filling our lives with love and happiness for 89 years, Mae Dell Galloway passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.
The oldest of ten children, she was born and reared in Baton Rouge, La. She grew up on America Street not realizing that right around the corner lived the man she would later meet and marry. Her happy loving marriage to Billy Galloway lasted 63 years until his passing in 2011. She was a kind, loving, unselfish person who loved her family and was always there for them. She will be loved and missed always.
She is survived by her two daughters Debby Bourgeois and husband Tim and Patty Rounds; five grandchildren, Sarah Mendler and husband Miki, Amanda Melancon and husband Jerik, Lydia Haymon and husband Chris, Joshua Rounds and wife Angela, Chad Rounds and wife Kristi; and twelve great-grandchildren, Dagan Bourgeois, Layne Melancon, Lyla Melancon, Anna Mendler, Otto Mendler, Jude Haymon, Stella Haymon, Cade Rounds, Ashton Rounds, Hudson Rounds, Ava Rounds, and Grant Rounds; two sisters Barbara Ann Sevier and Linda Zerangue; and four brothers Alton Sevier, Ricky Sevier, Ronald Sevier, and David Sevier.
Preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Carmen Sevier; two brothers Glen and Leonard Sevier; one sister Rita Daigle; and a son-in-law Rusty Rounds.
Special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice especially Shelly and Adele whose patient help guided us through these last nine months. Also a special thanks to all the neighbors on Louisa Lane who helped Mama through the years especially Winder and Libby Dunbar and Randy King. Most importantly thanks are not enough to show our appreciation and affection for Ms. Brenda Spears, Mama's caregiver for the last four years. She was a kind, patient, and caring presence in her life.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 9:00 to services at 11:00. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
