A homemaker and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home. She was 95 and a native of DeRidder. She grew up in the rural community of Kipling and attended school in Dry Creek. Following her marriage, she lived in DeRidder and later moved to Baton Rouge. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in girls' mission education, Women's Mission Society, visitation of shut-ins and making of toiletry ditty bags for the Seamens' Center. Preceded in death by her husband, James O. Terry Sr.; sisters, Mamie Garlington and Ruth Burr; and brother, James R. Green. Survived by her two sons, James O. Terry Jr., of Fort Worth, Texas, and Colin J. Terry, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Lee Laine Terry Willis, of Houston; grandchildren, James O. Terry III, Jill A. Terry, Jeffrey S. Terry, Sharon E. Villanueva, Jeanette Brown and Jennifer L. Gowan; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, May 3, from noon until celebration of life at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. T.W. Terral. There will be a private graveside service for family.
